maybe kitesurfing in the waves – I can’t believe this forecast – wind and waves look epic … wind might require a 5m kite but still ….. 11.5 METRE SWELL
is this the biggest forecast i have seen?
not quite as good as the mtb one but still funny
missed out on classics like:
‘wow saw your wipeout ..’
‘did you see my 520 railed landing wrapped…?’
‘I landed so hard my strap broke’
In Scotland ‘Its gusty out there like 18knots gusting 40′
‘you should get a c kite’
‘you shouldn’t be on a c kite’
If it keep blowing like this I might have to invest in a 3m kite ….
At the moment I am, however lying in bed with legs raised following a vasectomy …. So less ‘balls out’ for a session as ball wrapped in cotton wool.

a gust 20 knots stronger than average is a bit too blustery – later in week looks nicer.
I must remember to be less social – giving friends an open invite to come around at Sunday ‘sometime’ meant that my plans for a sneaky Kitesurf session were scarpered when a 12:30pm early lunch was confirmed. Bugger there was no way that would work out for me to get down to the coast have a session and be back washed and ready to cook. The solution I am led to believe is not to ditch said friends but to make alternative plans.

So plan hatched was to get my arse in gear and get out for a run. I confess to having been a bit lazy since the Jedburgh half marathon and my sciatic nerve was twinging a bit (stiff arse for lack of a better word) so down for a normal run to glasgow green And along the river path heading east. It is a great run and as I entered glasgow green right next to west brewery I became aware of heavy footstep runner approaching from behind … I sped up and he still narrowed the gap within 400m and passed me. Phew, younger, taller, slimmer and wearing clothes more appropriate for summer than a violently windy autumnal nay even wintry stormy day. Still a good run and slowed down from the unsustainable 4:20/km pace and sauntered on. Legs felt crap and a bit dehydrated (better than hungover) but heart rate was a lowly 141bpm …. Aaas one of those days.
The run is a simple out and back – down the glasgow green path until the path stops at the construction fence (for the commonwealth games) then back. 12.9 ish on the garmin foot pod and 13.01 using google maps.
Rest of day fine, friends good, food nice (cooked a smoked mackerel risotto yumm) prosecco palatable.
Hope you all had a fine Sunday too …….

Not the nicest day with overcast skies and rain – but a good chance to try out chest rig and board setup for the GoPro HD
The board mount is not the easiest and tried hard to tighten the camera enough but got knocked forwards by the waves a few times. Chest harness good but kind of gets obscured by the harness on jumps – I guess another reason to learn to do all jumps unhooked.
Nice to on the DCboardz quad fin surfboard again as well.
got down at 12pm for a kite at troon – this was the vision as I parked
A lot of rain but so much fun trying out the go pro…. Video is just uploading now – will embed in the morning

Just packed and heading down to the coast – mounted the surfboard mount yesterday onto board and did a quick test.
Filming later so hopefully footage a bit more exciting …..
If you can forget for a moment this an ADVERT for Jeep - at least Ben Wilson gets some money for doing it. Kiting Cloudbreak one of the premier surfspots……..
LOCATION: CLOUDBREAK, NAMOTU ISLAND, FIJI
DATE: 20th May 2011On May 20th 2011, kitesurfing pioneer, Ben Wilson, caught the world’s largest wave ever ridden strapless with a kite. What makes Ben an inspiration to all kiters is his passion for the sport. Ben’s driving force for his brand BWS is based on innovation, integrity and inspiration. Ultimately his undying desire to find the perfect wave and bring it to the public eye.
not a tutorial – not a guide just a wee video I came across – looks like lovely blustery April in Scotland weather to me (although prob a lot warmer)
Nice little film – well shot although narrative a touch twee (sorry guys I do like it though)

When the conditions are not perfect and the waves are mushy the Epic fish can make the difference and transform an average kite session into a great session.
The secret behind the successful Xelerator Fish Design is its versatility. Riding the board in Quad setup will give the Fish more grip and works great in slightly bigger surf. Using the board in twinzer setup makes it super loose and snappy and enables you to pull off those arials even in the smallest surf.
They are pretty tough boards – look at the video below.
at first the wind didn’t blow but then the wind came in – sweet makes you want to get on the water
Always the best – I remeber watching his windsurf video VHS !!! all those years ago and thinking WOW back then
Then kiting and toe in surfing ….
This is the intro to RIP – does anyone know if its on DVD?
We came across an interesting website a few days ago where you can upload your kitesurf photos, geo tag them and describe your sessions: Kitedaily! You do the content, upload one or more photos and describe your session.
You can keep your spots secret by using the ‘Secret Spot’ option. All other photos will be placed on a world map. Geotag your own sessions, post comments on other photos and save the best shots as favorite. Check it out!
I love Tiree, not been anywhere quite like it! will be back again this year
